WEEK 2 | Students from West Rowan and Vance Receive Performance of the Week awards

CHAPEL HILL— Tori Hester from West Rowan High School and Austin Grier from Vance High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.

In wins over South Rowan and East Surry last week, Hester combined for 47 kills, 33 digs, 4 solo blocks, and 7 aces.  The senior outside hitter has led the Falcons Volleyball Team to six straight wins to start the season.

Grier, a junior on the Vance High School Football Team, completed 26 of his 35 passes for 405 yards and two touchdowns.  He also added 55 yards rushing as Vance took down Heritage High School from Virginia 35-7.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
